I believe:

  • Anyone can learn to play the oboe.

  • Playing the oboe doesn't have to be hard.

  • Lessons should be guided by each student's needs and goals.

  • Methodical practice is the key to success.

During lessons we'll focus on developing the fundamentals of posture, breathing, embouchure and sound production. We'll use a combination of technical and tone exercises, etudes, solo literature, orchestral excerpts and band literature.

Interested students may also study reedmaking. These students have additional practice and supply requirements above and beyond the musical portion of lessons.

Testimonials

"My daughter has been taking oboe lessons with Alli for several years and has made amazing progress in her playing technique.  Alli is always able to point out what to improve on. She focuses a lot on breathing techniques and embouchure. Alli makes learning fun. My daughter looks forward to each session."

Andrea, Parent

"Our daughter started taking weekly private oboe lessons with Alli as a 10-year-old beginner student and her progress in two years was remarkable.

Working with Alli ignited her passion.  Alli is encouraging and kind yet sets high standards for the students and helps them excel by modeling a combination of talent and drive."
